Ezekiel 33:30-32 As for you son of man, your people are talking together about you by the walls and the doors of the houses, saying to each other, ‘Come and hear the message that has come from the Lord.’ My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to hear your words, but they do not put them into practice. Their mouths speak of love, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain. Indeed, to them you are nothing more than one who sings love songs with a beautiful voice and plays an instrument well, for they hear your words but do not put them into practice.
What does this say to you? To me, it tells how so many look to Ezekiel as part of their entertainment. He has tickled their ears, but the word has not taken hold of their hearts.
We see people like that today. God says to be doers of the Word and not hearers only. James 1:22
Many go to church – they love the worship and talk of how good the message was. But on Monday morning, their lives have not changed. Probably more than half of those who call themselves Christians live this way. Religion is a part of their lives, but not the Lord Himself.
This fact tells me we are not doing our job. We need to make sure people are being discipled. Discipleship means standing along side someone who is living and doing the Word of God. This person makes the disciple a part of his life, a part of his family. He walks along side him, teaching him that the Word can be lived out.
Jesus tells us in Matthew 28:19 to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
To me, this means teaching them everything you have learned at this point from the One who is true. To me, this means living a selfless life for others. And to me, this means walking as Jesus walked, sharing as He shared and loving as He loved. Impossible? Yes. But God, in His great grace is moving us along this “Via Dolorosa” of our lives.
And we remember His words: “Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age”.

Great word, Good message
